CUSTOM DIGITAL SIGNAGE AT OLMSTED HIGH SCHOOL
Individual Creative Controls Keep Signage Fun and Fresh
Digital signage isn’t a new concept for schools. In lobbies, libraries and
cafeterias, digital signage is used to easily communicate with students, faculty, and especially visitors.
It’s used for announcements, navigational assistance and to relay critical public service and emergency notices.
This same technology can be used inside the classroom to engage digital natives. It is bridging the generation gap between students and teachers, and improving the educational experience for everyone.
The schools of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, especially the high school, are using their digital signage to inform, teach, and entertain.
High School Multi Media Signage
Olmsted High School has multiple public-facing monitors that stream a range of media, and each location has a different use.
- School Entrance
Virtual directory and announcement board - Athletic Department
Sports schedules and recent results - Music Department
Displays montages of concerts and plays - Cafeteria
Lunch menu and short videos for healthy and fun DIY dishes and nutritional hacks, encouraging healthier choices and decreasing food waste.
The digital marketing class is responsible for creating the Google slides for school-wide announcements. Content from any channel or creator can be shown on any display. Signs can be displayed in both landscape and portrait modes.
Each monitor throughout the campus has a DiscoverVideo SignStick® that requests and stores images and videos from their on-premises DEVOS platform. An administrator assigns privileges and access to the appropriate signage. Creators can add images, video, and slide shows, and set their schedule.

They have plans to expand their use of the DEVOS platform to produce video morning announcements and stream convocation live to multiple locations.
READ THE SIGNS
The screens may change size, but digital signage will continue to be an an easy and effective way to reach a variety of viewers.
