The Pod Transcoder makes it extremely easy to create episode-based Podcasts from your video files. For example, if you record a live event in Windows Media or MPEG-4 format every day, the Pod Transcoder will automatically convert each video into a new episode of a Podcast subscription.

The Pod Transcoder automatically converts (trancodes) source Windows Media files to MPEG-4/H264 files, builds a Podcast RSS/xml file, and optionally uploads to your web server.

What Pod Transcoder Does
  • Detects .wmv and .mp4 files in an input directory
  • Trancodes .wmv to MPEG-4/H.264
  • Adds the new video to a RSS/XML Podcast feed
  • Automatically publishes the Podcast to your web server via FTP upload
What you need
  • Pod Transcoder software
  • Windows XP/Vista/2003 computer
  • Optional web server account
Specifications
  • Output Format: MPEG-4 (part 2) or H.264, multiple bit rates and resolutions
  • Input: Standard Windows Media or MPEG-4 File

Applications

  • Classroom capture, education
  • Corporate presentations, training

Customers

  • The Pod Transcoder is used by the New York Stock Exchange to deliver the Opening and Closing Bells to subscribers.  Example RSS (to subscribe in iTunes for example, select "Advanced / Subscribe To Podcast" and enter this URL: http://www.nyse.com/podcast/NYSE_Opening_and_Closing_Bells.xml
  • The Pod Transcoder is used by many educational institutions in conjunction with VBrick EtherneTV to give students the ability to subscribe to daily classroom lectures and other content.
Because Pod Transcoder automatically detects source video files, customers commonly target a Network Video Recorder (NVR) folder location, a shared folder on a local network, a FTP folder location, or similar.  Thus, when a new video files appears in the location that Pod Transcoder is monitoring (whether recorded from the network or uploaded), it is automatically added to your Podcast subscription.

The demo version is fully functional but includes a "watermark" in the video.
